ANNIE MIELKE

CO-FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

A mom of 3, including 2 on the Autism spectrum, she holds a BS in Education from Drake University and an MA in Special Education from Morningside College. At ASD, she provides consultations, creates curriculum, and facilitates drama classes. She’s also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

JOSEPH PARRISH

CO-FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Joe has a BA in Human Services from Grand View University. He completed coursework for BCBA in Applied Behavior Analysis. He created Role-Play Theatre Analysis programs and conducts Social Drumming sessions.

TYLER STOUGH

BOARD PRESIDENT

Tyler is the board president of Adventures in Social Development, having been with the nonprofit for three years. He started as a drama troupe facilitator and is currently a special education teacher at Johnston High School. He has a masters in special education and is working towards a doctorate.

JESSICA VAUGHT

VICE PRESIDENT

Jessica has been a board member and facilitator for ASD since 2022. Drawn to its creative, supportive environment, she is passionate about creating accessible, inclusive drama-based programming for all individuals. Jessica has a BA in Theatre from the University of Northern Iowa and currently works as a paralegal specializing in public finance transactions.

TRICIA PIETIG

SECRETARY

Tricia lives in Urbandale and has four children and six grandchildren. Her son Daniel has been an ASD participant for over six years. Tricia appreciates the environment of acceptance, achievement, and joy that ASD creates. Motivated by her son’s growth in self-confidence and new friendships, she volunteered to join the Board.

DANNY PIETIG

PEER LIAISON

At 20 years old and living in Urbandale, Danny serves as the Peer Liaison for the ASD Board. Involved with ASD for over six years, they’ve taken drama, drumming, and technology classes. Danny ensures fellow students’ voices are heard by contributing ideas and concerns to the Board. Passionate about ASD’s impact, they volunteered to help it grow.

LYNN BRUGGEMANN

BOARD MEMBER

Lynn Bruggemann, married to Chad with three kids, Nick, Brooke, and Mitchel, previously worked with Annie in the Johnston School District. Serving on the board allows her to continue supporting and promoting ASD’s mission.

RYAN STELLNER

BOARD MEMBER

Ryan Stellner joined the ASD board in early 2024. He and his wife, Amber, have four kids, including a 13-year-old son who attends ASD classes. Ryan is passionate about fundraising and looks forward to helping ASD grow.

 

 

 

LINDSEY SWAFFORD

BOARD MEMBER

Lindsey has been a board member and facilitator for ASD since 2022. Lindsey joined ASD as a supporter of the arts and an advocate for those with dynamic and unique abilities, she believes ASD offers true and effective methods for helping people of all ages connect to the world around them. She currently teaches special education at Johnston Middle School.
